"The path of altruism is the same - in past, present, future.
If you really want to help those who are less fortunate, then there can be no excuse".
-Jain Sutra
Dear Mobile Service Provider (MSP):
- SMS are an important source of your revenue. 670 million mobile owners (-as of Sept
2010), just need an excuse to send SMS. Currently they send 2 billion SMS / day
i.e. nearly 3 SMS / subscriber / day (on an average).
- Here is a way you can get your subscribers to send 6 SMS / day !
Some 56 million Indians use internet to search for jobs (70% internet users).10
times a many Indians (560 millions) have no access to PC / Internet.
But they have mobile phones & know how to send SMS. And they desperately want job-realted
info.
- If each of your subscriber sends, additional 3 SMS / DAY (
Pull Job Alert / View Job Detail / Apply through SMS ), that would be additional
90 SMS / month ! Unbelievable ! Try this.
First thing every morning, send following SMS to 1 million of your subscribers:
"Dear Subscriber: To receive job alerts & for apply against jobs directly from your
mobile,
send SMS-----jam[space]alert-----to ------9756510001"
Your MSP
Then come back & keep refreshing the following graph to see how many of your subscribers
are sending SMS .
To remove any residual doubt, select your Name-Link to reveal the mobile numbers
of your subscribers who sent the SMS.
Test Case:
From your own mobile, how about sending following SMS, right now:
jam[space]alert ------ to ------ 9756510001
Then refresh this page to see your MSP bar grow !
Telcos hit Goldmine
Telcos hit a goldmine with 3G services
( Source : Economic Times / Nov.09,2010 )
- Vittorio Colao, CEO , Vodafone Group
"3G will enable us to bring fantastic services to this country and the data opportunity
in this market is great. Data will be segmented and the plans will be tailor-made
for different segments of the population. Data will bring consolidation to the business
because it is nonsense to have 13-14 players with only some offering data services."
- Deepak Gulati, Executive President-Mobility, Tata Teleservices
"The way GSM services led to mobile phones being the first telephone at home in
India, 3G products and services will lead the democratization of information. Proliferation
of 3G services will see mobile internet far outpacing conventional forms of internet
access."
Mr.Gulati also added that the company had the first-mover advantage in the 3G space
from the private sector perspective, and combined with the partner in Japan’s NTT
DoCoMo, it was poised to take up a leadership position in the internet access space,
both on mobile phones and other larger-screen devices.
- A leading executive with a top telecom company said :
" Most of the 240 million data subscribers in India were only using free or
promotional data and internet-related services. The challenge for operators is to
ensure that these customers can be translated to revenues. Currently, only about
10 % of any operator’s revenues is from data, and off this, text messages or SMSes
accounts for 50 %."
- Fei Feng Seet, Research Associate, ABI :
" In emerging markets, such as India, where penetration of personal computers is
low, mobile internet on handsets will be popular among consumers due to its affordability
and portability."
